Brazilian GP: Rosberg leads superior Mercedes 1-2 in P2

Nico Rosberg has the early edge on Lewis Hamilton at this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix

After setting this morning's practice session, Mercedes AMG Petronas driver Nico Rosberg stayed on top in this afternoon’s free practice 2 for the Brazilian Grand Prix. With a lap time of 1:12.123, the German outpaced teammate and World Championship standings leader Lewis Hamilton by 0.213 seconds.

Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen was best of the rest with the third fastest time, 0.573 seconds behind Rosberg. Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo and Williams’ Valtteri Bottas rounded out the top-5.

Local favorite and two-time Brazilian Grand Prix winner Felipe Massa was sixth followed by Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso in seventh. Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat who was third in the morning session was eighth quick in P2. Defending race winner and four-time reigning World Champion Sebastian Vettel was ninth, nearly four-tenths behind teammate Ricciardo. McLaren’s Kevin Magnussen rounded out the top-10.
