Parker Thompson joins JDC Motorsports
MINNEAPOLIS, MN. – JDC MotorSports' quest for a run at the 2015 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda title is taking an important first step, with the Minnesota-based squad confirming the signing of up-and-comer Parker Thompson.
The Canadian will make his full-time Mazda Road to Indy debut in 2015 with impressive results already on his young racing resume having won several karting championships and top championship finishing positions when competing in karting championships worldwide.
Since joining the Mazda Road to Indy driver development system, JDC MotorSports has strived to not only win races and championships, but also to develop future stars of motorsports.
The renowned junior formula car squad has done just that over the years, and believes it is poised to do it again with the addition of Thompson to its USF2000 line-up.
While Thompson enters the upcoming season as a rookie, he will have the benefit of having logged several tests with JDC MotorSports.
Given JDC MotorSports experience and expertise in the USF2000 ranks, combined with Thompson's championship-winning karting background, the 16-year-old is set to be a frontrunner in 2015.
"We are very excited to have Parker under our tent for the 2015 season," stated JDC MotorSports team principal John Church. "He has shown great speed during testing, and we look forward to developing him into a consistent frontrunner next year."
"I am extremely thankful for the opportunity from John Church to be a part of his organization for 2015," said Thompson. “I am excited to kick off the new race season in the Mazda Road to Indy USF2000 series and look forward to hunting down the championship with the JDC Motorsports boys."
Thompson will be part of a multi-car title challenge by JDC Motorsports, with his teammates to be announced shortly.
JDC MotorSports and Thompson begin the pursuit of top honors in the 2015 USF2000 championship via pre-season testing, followed by competing in the traditional pre-season start in the fifth annual Cooper Tires Winterfest in February at NOLA Motorsports Park just outside of New Orleans, La., on February 18/19/20 before moving to Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, Ala., on February 24/25/26.
