Smash Mouth to Play the Detroit Grand Prix

As fans gear up for the final race of an action-packed weekend at the 2015 Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, one of the top party bands in recent memory will rock the MotorCity Casino Hotel Entertainment Stage. Smash Mouth will perform at the Grand Prix in a unique Sunday afternoon matinee on May 31.
Known for such popular hit songs as "All-Star," "Walkin' on the Sun" and "Can't Get Enough of You Baby," Smash Mouth will bring their blend of alternative and popular rock to the Grand Prix where they will perform on Sunday afternoon, prior to the second and final Chevrolet Dual in Detroit presented by Quicken Loans race of the weekend, featuring the cars of the Verizon IndyCar Series. All Sunday Grand Prix attendees are welcome to attend the concert, free of charge, at the MotorCity Casino Hotel Stage, once again located in the Meijer Fan Zone at Belle Isle Park.

With 3 Doors Down performing on Saturday evening, May 30 and Smash Mouth on Sunday, the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix has a strong weekend lineup of music with additional local acts planned to perform on the MotorCity Casino Hotel Entertainment Stage over the course of the three-day event. Formed in 1994 with band members from San Jose, Calif., Smash Mouth drew critical acclaim for their debut album Fush Yu Mang, which went double platinum. The group's follow-up release Astrolounge boasted three top-10 hits and approached quadruple platinum status. Smash Mouth has also crossed over into the film world generating some of the most popular songs for the Shrek soundtrack and with a cameo appearance in the movie Rat Race. In recent years, Smash Mouth has focused on touring and entertaining military troops in Japan, Guam, Guantanamo Bay, Afghanistan, and Iraq. With band members Steve Harwell, Paul DeLisle, Michael Klooster, Sean Hurwitz and Jason Sutter, Smash Mouth released Magic in 2012. The group has also published a rock-n-roll cookbook – "Recipes from the Road" – that features creations from some of the top restaurants the band has visited over their 15 years of touring the U.S. and it includes guest recipes from such pop icons as Guy Fieri, Sammy Hagar and Jerome Bettis.
