KV Racing Gives Ryan Phinny His First Taste Of An Indy Car

Ryan Phinny must have just gone for a joy ride because no competitive times were published indicating he must have been slow

KV Racing Technology gave Indy Lights driver Ryan Phinny his first taste of an Indy Car today during the one-day test at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida.

The 25-year-old native of Los Angeles was behind the wheel of the No.4 KV Racing Technology Chevrolet/Dallara/Firestone car, which currently has yet to have a driver signed to it for the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series season.

Phinny, spent the day learning his new ride and adapting to how it felt on the 1.65-mile short course. By the end of the day he had consistently improved and bettered his morning session time.

"It was great to work with KV Racing Technology today," said Phinny. "It's always nice when you can enter a situation and immediately feel comfortable. My primary focus was to get acclimated with the Indy car and get as much seat-time as possible. I can't thank the team enough for all their effort and the opportunity. I'm looking forward to the next outing."

Phinny ran five Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires races last year, three with Bryan Herta Motorsport before switching to Belardi Auto Racing for the season finale double-header at Sonoma. He had a best finish of sixth and qualified within the top-five all weekend.

KV Racing Technology will return to NOLA Motorsports Park and debut the new Chevrolet-developed aero kit at a one-day test before the Barber Open Test 16-17 March at Barber Motorsports Park. The driver for the No. 4 car is yet to be determined, however Sebastien Bourdais is confirmed for the season and will drive the No. 11 KVSH Racing entry.

The 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series season kicks off on the streets of St. Petersburg with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, March 27-29.
