Conor Daly joins Sebring lineup in Performance Tech PC
Conor Daly |
Although he's tested an IndyCar this offseason and banked a bunch of GP2 experience, Conor Daly is going to have his next race in a sports car.
The 23-year-old American will join the No. 38 Performance Tech Motorsports lineup for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in the Prototype Challenge class, along with James French and Jerome Mee.
Daly will have his first crack at the race where his dad, Derek, has won twice.
"The deal came together over the last couple of days," Daly said. "The team's driver coach Jonatan Jorge is a friend of mine and suggested I’d be a good choice for the team. I had a couple good talks with Brent and we decided to go to work at Sebring.
"My dad won the race in 1990 and '91, so no pressure. I'm excited to get a chance at somewhere my dad experienced a lot of success. Sebring is honestly one of my favorite tracks, I ran here from 2008 to 2010 with Skip Barber and Star Mazda.
"All this has been brought on by the team. I have to thank Brent, he’s such a great guy and I'm lucky to be with a great team. I'm just thankful for the opportunity and ready to get to work on Sebring."
As yet, Daly doesn’t have any remaining races sorted – the same is true for Justin Wilson, who is in Michael Shank Racing's No. 60 Ligier JS P2 Honda this week at Sebring – but both will be keen to post a good result and/or a good impression this weekend. Motorsportstalk/NBC
