| AR1 tries to predict which qualifying group Will Power will select. |
Below, are the groups for today's Verizon IndyCar Series qualifying at Barber Motorsports Park. As the fastest driver in the practice session prior to qualifying, Will Power gets to select which group he wants to qualify in. Second-place driver in practice 2 Helio Castroneves will be in the other group.
Our guess as to which group Power will choose?
Well, considering we've been wrong the past couple of races, we're not sure what our analysis is worth. Also, the groups seem more balanced today than they have in prior race. In any case, we imagine Power will opt to let his Team Penske teammate Castroneves deal with the other two Penske cars in Group 2. So, we expect Power to opt for the first group.
Power must make his decision known a half-hour before the session begins. We will pass along the final groups as soon as we hear word.
