Good morning from Mid-Ohio (Update 1)

UPDATE

Andretti Autosport is hard at work repairing the #28 DHL Honda

Due to a incident in morning practice, the Andretti Autosport crew is frantically working on getting the #28 DHL Honda of Ryan Hunter-Reay ready by replacing the back wing and fixing the front wing. Hunter-Reay of course, had an accident in the morning warm-up.

I ran into RHR's teammate Justin Wilson who is driving the #25 for Andretti Autosport. Justin has not driven all season but is in the car for the remainder of the season. I asked him if he had any plans for next season and he replied, "I have no idea at this time."

As I walked through the paddock, I noticed the number of young children with their parents. Mid-Ohio attracts families due to the amount of freedom you having moving around the landscaped infield and many good viewing vantage points. There is a good crowd here today already.

Speaking of families, I met Rodolfo Gonzalez's father Carlos at breakfast. Rodolfo is driving the #18 car for Dale Coyne Racing this weekend and at Sonoma. His Dad worked as a Formula One TV announcer for a and used to allow his son to interview some drivers. When Rodolfo was 9 years old, he interviewed Juan Pablo Montoya. When he was 14 years old, he interviewed Takuma Sato and Lewis Hamilton. Of course, today he will be racing Sato and Montoya today.

Green flag flies at 2:07 pm today on the IndyCar race.

Scott Dixon will start from pole today

Good morning from Lexington, Ohio. You could not ask for better weather than what we have had this weekend. The paddock is humming with the teams warming up the IndyCar engines.

Some facts about today's race. If Chip Ganassi Racing scores a win today, it would be the team's 100th win. It would also be their 7th straight victory at Mid-Ohio.

Juan Pablo Montoya leads Graham Rahal by 42 points. Montoya has lead the championship since winning the opening race of the season in St. Petersburg. Currently, 13 drivers are mathematically eligible for the 2015 championship:

Montoya, Rahal, Scott Dixon, Helio Castroneves, Will Power, Sebastien Bourdais, Marco Andretti, Josef Newgarden, Tony Kanaan, Simon Pagenaud, Carlos Munoz, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Charlie Kimball.

There is some talk about an international race happening early in the 2016 season in Mexico City.
I hear the actual schedule will be done by the season finale.

I will give another update after the morning practice for the Indy cars.
