Bowyer tops opening practice at The Glen

With a lap of 127.067 miles per hour, Clint Bowyer placed the #15 Maxwell House Toyota atop the time sheets in opening practice for the Cheez-Itz 355 at Watkins Glen International. Defending race winner A.J. Allmendinger was second a mere 0.091s behind Bowyer's lap time of 69.412s.

There was a rather large gap to third place Jimmie Johnson who clocked in more than half-second slower than Bowyer. Sam Hornish Jr. and Casey Mears rounded out the top-5.

Final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice is scheduled for 4:40 p.m. this afternoon.
