Bryan Clauson/Bryd Racing To Team Up for 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500

The activity for the Month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway may not be here until another nine months, but we already know of another team that will attempt to qualify for next year’s 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500. Byrd Racing will field a team for the second consecutive year in the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing" as they will have Bryan Clauson in their entry once again for a second try.

Clauson, will be attempting to make his third career Indy 500 (second with the team) as he started 33rd and finished 31st in this past May's race after crashing out of the event near the midway point of the 200 Lap race. But, with the partnership with Jonathan Bryd's, Clauson went up to Kokomo after the 500 to run his own version of the "double" as the Noblesville native ran in the USAC race that night as he finished second in a photo finish effort.

Now, Clauson and Bryd Racing announced a deal for 2016 that will see Clauson run in 200 events around the world as he will run sprint cars, IndyCars, USAC machines and others.

It’s good to see a USAC driver get the chance to showcase his talents around the nation and the world at that as it’s like it was in the glory years that would see A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti and other star drivers show up at marquee events on any given day.

Now, Clauson is getting that chance.

The 26-year old has made two IndyCar starts as both were in the 500. Obviously, he had last year’s effort, but he started 31st and finished 30th in the 2012 race for Sarah Fisher/Hartman Racing.

Other than that, he’s made a name for himself in the USAC ranks. He’s a two-time USAC Midget champion and a two-time USAC Sprint Car champion as he’s won a ton of events on both pavement and dirt in all three divisions of USAC. He’s also made eight starts in the Indy Lights Series and another 26 starts in the NASCAR X-Finity Series as a Chip Ganassi Racing developmental driver from 2007-2008.

Now, Clauson gets another chance at the biggest race in the world in 2016.
