Kimball leads opening practice at Pocono

(Long Pond, PA) – With a speed of 221.373 miles per hour, Charlie Kimball topped the time sheets in opening Verizon IndyCar series practice for tomorrow's ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway. The driver of the #83 NovoLog FlexPen Chevrolet was 0.1077s quicker than teammate Sage Karam.

Team Penske's Simon Pagenaud was third with teammate, defending race-winner and championship points leader Juan Pablo Montoya completing a Chevrolet sweep of the top-4. Takuma Sato was the lead Honda in fifth.

The session ended a few minutes early due to a minor accident by rookie Stefano Coletti. Next up for the Verizon IndyCar Series will be pole qualifying, scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. local time.
