Servia Interested in a Return to IndyCar in 2016

Oriol Servia

After being chosen, by his family, to honor the late Justin Wilson, and drive his car at Sonoma, Oriol Servia says his passion to make a return is incredibly strong.

"I do have a new fire in my belly," Servia told RACER magazine. "I don't know how it is going to translate as we look to the future, but I know that something special happened at Sonoma and it has me thinking about what could be possible."

Servia was recently named as team manager for Dragon Racing's UK-based Formula E teams and, while he isn't planning to leave that position behind, the chance to drive a front-running IndyCar has generated interest in an expanded IndyCar campaign.

"I've driven for many great teams throughout my Indy car career, and it was phenomenal to race for the first time with Michael Andretti's team," Servia said. "But the truth is I have always wanted a shot at some solid effort, which I had through my career some, but, as you know, never for very long.

"I think in this way I feel very close to Justin because we both wanted to have long careers with a team like Andretti, or Rahal, or the other famous names. I don't know if anything will come from [his performance at Sonoma], but I hope I showed I am still very competitive and I believe I can help a team to achieve many great things. Like I said: I have a big fire in my belly."
