Panoz DeltaWing Racing have had three successful days of testing at Daytona International Speedway with Katherine Legge, Sean Rayhall, Andy Meyrick and Andreas Wirth.

Day 1: Completing 47 laps between them, Legge’s and Rayhall’s focus was on testing and perfecting the new steering geometry designed to improve how the car handles the banking and also bedding in the brakes ahead of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Andreas Wirth took his first drive in the Panoz DeltaWing achieving impressive times in only 12 laps.

Day 2: Finishing P1 in the first practice session of the day and P2 in night practice with a lap time of 1:39.955, Legge made history for Panoz DeltaWing Racing. Both Rayhall and Meyrick were on pace with Wirth consistently improving with time in the car. Covering 120 laps, the team concentrated on developing the set-up of the car to ensure all four drivers are happy.

Day 3: Legge, Rayhall and Meyrick used the sessions to target race pace and make the larger and more time-consuming adjustments to the car to refine the set-up ahead of the race. Instead of concerning themselves with speed, the team were focused on longevity and were pleased with the results. Meyrick ended the day in P2 with a lap time of 1:39.975.

Andy Meyrick

“First of all I’m honored to be able to drive for Dr Panoz and Panoz DeltaWing Racing and very thankful for the opportunity. It’s great to be part of this team for the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. It’s a lot of fun to drive the car at such amazing speed and I hope we can keep up the performance at the race that we’ve shown at the test."

Tim Keene
“We had a solid three days of testing and we sorted through some different mechanical set-ups and in the end we found exactly what we needed. All the drivers were comfortable for full stints in race set-up and we focused most of our attention on the race rather than just outright speed. Definitely looking forward to coming back in a couple of weeks."
