Is the future of motorsports bleak?

A reader writes, Dear AR1, I read with interest your latest article that paints a fairly bleak picture for motorsports as a 'sport' unless we plan for it now. I think you are right. I know I won't pay a dime to watch a silent car race around a track controlled by a computer. The sport I love may soon be over. Dennis Solomon

Dear Dennis, We already saw a drop off in attendance when F1 cars, IndyCar and sportscars went to V6 engines muffled by turbochargers and other hybrid technologies. Once they go completely silent and cars are all driverless, we're afraid driving will no longer be considered a sport and it will be lights out for motorsports unless we do something now. AR1 staff.
