Bale bails on Ferrari movie

Christian Bale is out of Michael Mann's Enzo Ferrari movie, says Hollywood pub Variety. Sources told the publication that Bale was concerned about the weight gain required to play Ferrari for the movie, which starts shooting in spring.

That's a little bit of a surprise to Bale fans. The actor dropped an amazing amount of weight to play Trevor Reznik in "The Machinist" and gained a ton of muscle to play Bruce Wayne in the "Dark Knight" series. So he's no stranger to physically getting into a role.

The movie is based on Brock Yates' book "Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Races" from 1991. Apparently director Michael Mann has married two existing scripts to make the movie, one by "The Italian Job's" Troy Kennedy Martin and one from "Out Of Africa's" David Rayfield.

Director Mann will have to find a new star to play the famous Italian, quickly. AutoWeek
