Comerica Bank is helping the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix build on an established tradition that began in 1982 with the very first Grand Prix in Detroit. It was announced today that Comerica Bank will return as the sponsor of "Free Prix Day" and help Detroit start its summer right on Friday, June 3.

All fans are welcome to attend the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix free of charge and have courtesy access to the Paddock area, known as "the locker room of motorsports," on Comerica Bank Free Prix Day. This marks the fourth year that Comerica Bank will provide fans the opportunity to come and experience the sights and sounds of the first day of the Grand Prix with free access to Belle Isle Park.

Free Prix Day presented by Comerica Bank will feature on-track action from the three series participating in the 2016 Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. The Verizon IndyCar Series will have practice and qualifying on-track for the first Chevrolet Dual in Detroit presented by Quicken Loans. The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will also have both practice and qualifying for the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic presented by the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers, while the SPEED Energy Formula Off-Road presented by Traxxas trucks will compete in the first race of the weekend.

Free Prix Day presented by Comerica Bank visitors will be able to see all of this action for free, along with the off-track entertainment including the Meijer Fan Zone featuring interactive displays and extreme sports demonstrations, and live entertainment on the MotorCity Casino Hotel Entertainment Stage.

"Free Prix Day is something special in Detroit and it allows everyone to come down to Belle Isle and get a chance to experience all the fun and excitement of the Grand Prix," said Bud Denker, Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. "We want to thank our great partners at Comerica Bank for continuing to support this important day for our community and helping the tradition to live on as fans will enjoy all the Grand Prix has to offer both on and off the track."

"The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix is a great week to kick off the summer season on one of Detroit’s jewels – Belle Isle," said Mike Ritchie, president of Comerica Bank-Michigan. "We look forward to seeing race fans on Belle Isle on Friday, June 3, and are pleased to be able to provide them with a chance to enjoy the excitement of racing that day at no cost."
