“AAA Drive for Autism 400” coming to Dover Speedway

AAA today announced it will be the primary sponsor of the “AAA 400 Drive for Autism" at Dover International Speedway on Sunday, May 15. The race is part of a three-year extension with the “Monster Mile," keeping the race in Dover through 2018 when the track will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
“NASCAR is an important sport for us in reaching fans and potential consumers," said Berni Koch, CEO for AAA Mid-Atlantic. “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to strengthen our relationship with Dover International Speedway, while bringing much needed awareness to the autism community."
AAA and Dover International Speedway jumped at the opportunity to move the AAA entitlement race to the spring to ensure that the tradition of driving awareness to the needs of the entire autism community was maintained for years to come. Dover International Speedway has had races tied to autism awareness for nine years. In addition to the race, AAA will also sponsor the “Drive for Autism" golf tournament on May 12 that raises funds for Autism Delaware.
This race continues AAA and Dover International Speedway’s partnership in NASCAR. For the past seven years, the AAA 400 took place at the track in the fall. AAA will still have a sponsorship presence for the Oct. 2 race, but will move its race entitlement to the spring. Along with a new name, the race will also have a new logo.
“We’ve had a special relationship with AAA for many years and we’re excited to continue that partnership through 2018," said Dover International Speedway President and CEO Mike Tatoian. “The commitment to quality and the high level of customer service AAA displays on a daily basis are the same goals we strive for with all of our events. With the AAA 400 Drive for Autism on May 15, we’ll come together again to support a cause critical to our entire community."
The full NASCAR weekend in Dover will also include a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Friday, May 13 and a NASCAR XFINITY Series race on Saturday, May 14. The NASCAR XFINITY Series race will feature two 40-lap Dash 4 Cash heat races, followed by a 120-lap main event.
