State of the Art Racing School coming to Lime Rock

LAKEVILLE, Conn. (March 30) – The Lucas Oil School of Racing is grabbing headlines in the race-driver training world and has now scheduled two Two-Day racing schools here at Lime Rock Park for 2016.

Both Lime Rock schools are Monday-Tuesday programs – June 20-21 and August 8-9 – and students drive the new Ray GR-RSC open-wheel formula car.

The Lucas Oil “Basic Two-Day" qualifies graduates to apply for a provisional SCCA Competition License.

Equipped with a 5-speed paddle-shift sequential gearbox and high-performance Cooper CSS Ultra Touring 195/55-16s mounted on Team Dynamics Racing wheels, the engine is a 2.0-liter Elite that makes 170 h.p. The GR-RSC chassis is derived from the Formula 3 title-winning Ray GR-11, then custom-built for the rigors of a racing school. All school cars are equipped with AiM Formula Dash 2 data acquisition and a SmartyCam video system.

U.K.-based Ray Formula Cars Racecar Engineering has been designing, building and supporting junior series open-wheel race cars for more than 45 years.

Todd Snyder, Lucas Oil School of Racing COO, said, “Scheduling schools at Lime Rock Park – it is a superb training venue, a track I’ve been teaching at for more than 25 years – has been at the top of our list since the beginning. In fact, our entire instructor corps has vast experience at Lime Rock, and they’re looking forward to these schools as much as the customers itching to get the best coaching available in what we think is the best school car in the country."

Lime Rock Park General Manager Steven Sewell said, “Everybody attached to the Lucas Oil School are racers that I’ve known and worked with for close to 30 years. We’re excited to have them teach the art and science of race car driving here at Lime Rock."
