Stenhouse’s Crew Chief Suspended

Nick Sandler, crew chief of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. at Roush Fenway Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, has been suspended one race by NASCAR and will miss Sunday’s event at Talladega Superspeedway.

The suspension, which is in addition to a $20,000 fine and probation until Dec. 31, is the result of an infraction discovered last weekend at Richmond (Va.) Int’l Raceway. According to NASCAR, he violated Section 20.13.I-1.d of the NASCAR Rule Book.

That section of the NASCAR Rule Book covers the steering wheel coupler, which attaches the wheel to the steering column. The issue was detected during opening day inspection on Friday at Richmond.
