Vettel tops final F1 practice in Montreal

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel turned the fastest lap of the weekend in final practice for the Canadian GP ahead of this afternoon's qualifying session. It rained with 20 minutes left in the session so the Mercedes drivers never got a chance to usurp the Ferrari.

Vettel's lap of 1m13.919s was the only lap so far this weekend in the 1m13s bracket and it was done on the purple ulte-soft tires. 2nd was Max Verstappen's Red Bull at 1m14.158s and 3rd was Mercedes' Nico Rosberg at 1m14.316s, both on ultrasofts.

Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari at 1m14.316s and Rosberg's teammate Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top-5. Hamilton, who dominated Friday's sessions, was about to make a simulated qualifying run when the rain started and he ran wide in turn 1

In the last 10 minutes on a wet track Kevin Magnussen stuffed his Renault into the barriers and the session was red-flagged. The track was wet so no one was going to go faster anyway.
