IndyCar: Friday morning update from Sonoma
For the second consecutive year, the Verizon IndyCar Series champion will be crowned at Sonoma Raceway. The championship has come down to two of the Team Penske drivers, Simon Pagenaud, in his second year driving for Team Penske and Will Power, the Australian that has been with the team since 2010 and won a championship in 2014.
I will have more on this story later today.
The raceway will debut its brand new 85-foot tall, four-sided LED scoring tower for Verizon IndyCar Series fans. The new pylon will provide real-time running order for up to 20 positions, dynamic race-related graphics and fan information. In addition, the raceway had added an 84’ – x 12’ Panasonic LED video board on the front of its three-story suites building adjacent to Turn 10.
The brand new Paddock Entertainment Stage is your one-stop shop for entertainment during race weekend. Located in the main paddock, this fan display will be the hub of social media activity, autograph sessions and live music throughout the weekend. Fans will also enjoy Q&As with drivers and INDYCAR personalities, music by DJ Treblemaker and much more!
James Hinchliffe, driver of the number 5 Arrow sponsored Schmidt Petersen entry, is currently participating in season 23 of Dancing with the Stars. Later today, Hinchcliffe will get behind the wheel of an INDYCAR Experience two-seater Indy car to take his partner, Sharna Burgess, for a spin around his "dance floor" – with a ride at race speeds around Sonoma Raceway. Burgess is traveling to Sonoma for a private rehearsal with Hinchcliffe, as they prepare to perform for the second time on the next live episode on Sept 19th.
I will keep you updated thought the day…
