Does Max Verstappen think Lewis Hamilton is a whiny baby?

Max Verstappen insists he is not planning to change his driving tactics despite the FIA's new stance on moving under braking in F1.

The ruling body on Saturday issued a clarification on the rules, saying moving under braking would now be considered a breach of regulations.

It comes after Verstappen was in the spotlight again for his defense against Lewis Hamilton on the penultimate lap of the Japanese Grand Prix.

Although Verstappen said the clarification was positive, he insisted he has no plans to change his approach to racing.

"To be honest it is like it is," said Verstappen. "They set up a rule so everybody has to follow the rule.

When asked if he would change his driving style, he said: "No, I don't think so.

"I think it's good that they make it more clear to everyone what's allowed and what's not. Let's see how it's going to turn out. I think it's a positive thing that they put a rule on it.

"Maybe they can get past now."

The Red Bull driver said the move did not come as a surprise to him.

"If so many people are complaining it's not a surprise, let's say it like that," he added.

"To be honest I haven't really thought about it yet, what I should do or what I would do. I'm just gonna race and then we'll see how it's going to be with overtaking and how people are defending.

"If that's the right approach I don't know, but at the end of the day it's the same for everyone so we'll have to deal with it.

"I think it makes Formula 1 a lot more interesting, instead of just getting by with DRS or driving by in an easy overtake. But that's not up to me.

"Probably it will lead to more passes. If it's positive passing I don't know, that's what we'll have to ask the fans at one point."

Verstappen claimed moving under braking is something that other had done when defending from him as well.

"For sure, all the time. I've seen it all the time." Motorsport.com

10/22/16 18:51 – Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, has acted to stop drivers moving under braking when defending their position, following a number of contentious incidents.

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has faced criticism on multiple occasions this season for his bold defensive maneuvers, the FIA also giving him a "gentle warning".

In Japan, Lewis Hamilton took evasive action after Max Verstappen darted to defend position, a move that Mercedes initially protested, before withdrawing its complaint.

In a rules clarification, issued to teams at the Circuit of the Americas, it has been made clear that any such action in future races will be reported to the stewards.

Revised regulations outlined by the FIA:

16) Defensive maneuvers

16.1) Article 27.5 of the Sporting Regulations states that "…no car may be driven… in a manner which could be potentially dangerous to other drivers…", furthermore, Article 27.8 prohibits any maneuver "…liable to hinder other drivers, such as… any abnormal change of direction".

With this in mind, and with the exception of any move permitted by Article 27.6, any change of direction under braking which results in another driver having to take evasive action will be considered abnormal and hence potentially dangerous to other drivers.

Any such move will be reported to the stewards.
