Wood Brothers Racing Lease Charter For 2017
Blaney and the Wood Brothers will contest every race in 2017 |
Wood Brothers Racing will no longer have to worry about qualifying every week for NASCAR premier series events after acquiring a NASCAR charter on Thursday.
Wood Brothers Racing, owned by NASCAR legends Glen and Leonard Wood, has leased the charter from the No. 32 Go Fas Racing team for the 2017 season. The team confirmed that they acquired the charter via Twitter on Thursday afternoon.
The team, the oldest continually operating organization in NASCAR’s premier series, raced the entire 2016 season without a charter with driver Ryan Blaney and qualified for every race on speed.
Go Fas Racing, who earlier Thursday announced they had signed Matt DiBenedetto to drive for the team, has in turn leased the charter No. 44 Richard Petty Motorsports charter for the 2017 season.
There has been no word on the status of the No. 44 team following the departure of Brian Scott, who chose to retire following the 2016 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Speedsport
