ABG Motorsport Purchase Ligier JS P3 For The New ELMS LMP3 Series
They will run the Ligier JS P3 for three-time GT champion Jim Geddie and his son, former British GT Champion, Glynn Geddie.
Jim and Glynn paired up in 2011 to win the British GT3 Championship with CRS Racing. In 2013, they won the European Supercar Challenge in their United Autosports-run McLaren MP4-12C GT3. In 2014, Jim won the GT Cup Championship with the same car. Glynn has raced in the British Touring Car Championship and the Porsche Carrera Cup GB and is currently the development driver for the SsangYong Racing Challenge.
Jim and Glynn will rejoin the hugely experienced ABG Motorsport, led by Peter Hignett. ABG Motorsport are a race and championship winning team, having raced successfully in British GT, GT Cup, Porsche Carrera Cup, British Touring Car Championship and Britcar.
The Scottish duo’s Ligier JS P3 will be on display this week on the Ligier UK stand at the Autosport International Show (12-15 January) stand 2400 in hall 20. The Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship will begin on 22 April at Donington Park and will visit four UK circuits, with a special round at Spa Francorchamps in June. The series is run by Bute Motorsport and is the perfect starting point for teams and drivers wanting to race in the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Jim Geddie:
I tested the Ligier JS P3 at Snetterton and loved it. It will be a new challenge for me racing prototypes when I’m so used to GT3 cars, but I’m looking forward to taking it on. The new British LMP3 series is great for drivers like me who have an ambition to race in the European Le Mans Series or even at Le Mans, but all at sensible set up and running costs.
Glynn Geddie:
I’m really looking forward to racing the Ligier JS P3. It’s a great car and we both loved testing it at Snetterton. I can’t wait to go racing again. The British LMP3 series will be a great first step on the journey to ELMS and hopefully the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Richard Dean, Team Owner and Managing Director, United Autosports:
It’s great to see Jim and ABG Motorsport joining the British LMP3 grid for 2017. The series is growing by the day with new drivers and teams expressing an interest in the Ligier JS P3 and the LMP3 Championship. The series is perfect for people like Jim and to have another new team, like the experienced ABG Motorsport guys join the grid and enter the LMP3 racing scene is fantastic.
