Danica Patrick to campaign Rahal Ferrari
UPDATE #2 This rumor is downgraded to 'false.' Team Rahal has abandoned its plans to run a solo Prodrive Ferrari in the American Le Mans Series. 12/03/04 With Rahal Letterman about to announce Danica Patrick as a full-time IRL driver, this ALMS deal, if it materializes, would be part-time at best because of conflicts between the IRL and ALMS schedules. 11/22/04 According to Autosport Magazine, Rahal Letterman Racing is working on a deal to run a Prodrive Ferrari 550 Maranello in next season’s American Le Mans Series. Team owner Bobby Rahal has been looking to expand into sportscars for the past couple of years. He revealed earlier this year that he wanted to become part of the Aston Martin DBR9 project. That car will not become available until 2006, so he is looking at the 550 Maranello as a stop-gap. Frédéric Dor, who finances and controls the 550 Maranello project, explained that a deal with Rahal could be confirmed by the end of the month. Rahal would run a solo car in the ALMS and at the Le Mans 24 Hours. His protégé, Danica Patrick, would be one of the drivers.
