05/20/17 Dale Coyne Racing driver Sebastien Bourdais has had a big accident in Turn 2 in qualifying for the 101st Indianapolis 500. The back end stepped out in turn 2, he appeared to over-correct and the car went nose-first into the wall at about a 45-degree angle. The car hit the Safer Barrier very hard and the car flipped over upside down before finally landing right-side up on its wheels.

Bourdais was taken out of the car on a backboard and placed in the ambulance. No report on his condition yet, but one can speculate he may have some injuries given the severity of the hit, which required repairs to the wall.

Up until that point Bourdais' first two laps were the fastest of the day. Prior to his crash, laps of 231.4 and 231.5mph in the No. 18 DCR Honda was the only car to eclipse the 231 mph barrier all day.
