LeMans 24 Hour 12: Porsche has 9-lap lead at halfway
The lone #1 Porsche streaks through the night |
LMP1
The 24 hours of LeMans is now a borefest up at front. With the demise of all three Toyotas, the leading #1 Porsche now has a 9-lap lead over a lowly LMP2 car and is in stroker-ace mode for the last 12 hours of the race. Unless the lone LMP1 car also fails, which it should not in stroker mode, the over winner is a foregone conclusion.
The #1 Porsche continues to lead with Nick Tandy at the wheel. The #2 Porsche is P16 overall, 18 laps behind its sister car.
The lone remaining Toyota (#8) is 47th overall and 29 laps down from the leader.
LMP2
The #31 ORECA from Vaillante Rebellion continues to lead the category and is looking for an overall podium finish. It’s teammate, the #13 ORECA, has dropped to third after pitting and now chases the #38 ORECA run by Jackie Chan DC Racing.
The #49 ARC Bratislava Ligier made a trip to the gravel trap and continued, while the #47 Cetilar Villorba Corse Dallara had to limp its way back to the pits for a punctured tire.
LMGTE Pro
The #95 (Stanaway) and #97 (Adam) Aston Martins continue to lead the way, but faced strong competition from the #91 Porsche driven by Kévin Estre. The two teams are on different fuel strategies, so the #91 pitted before things could get too racy.
Now it is the #51 Ferrari (Pier Guidi) in third behind the Aston Martin teammates.
LMGTE Am
The #84 JMW Motorsport Ferrari still holds a comfortable lead in LMGTE Am. Behind it the #77 Porsche and #55 Ferrari are duking it out in the dark.
