Pirelli announces compounds for US GP
Ultrasoft for USA? Is that too soft? |
Formula 1 tire supplier Pirelli has revealed that it will take the three softest compounds from its range to the United States Grand Prix later this year.
The Ultra Soft, Super Soft and Medium compounds will be used at the Circuit of the Americas, a step softer than its corresponding 2016 choices.
As per the usual regulations, one set of Ultra Soft tires must be used only in Q3, while either the Super Soft or Soft compounds must be run for one stint of the Grand Prix.
Pirelli's decision to bring compounds a step softer than in 2016 is in line with some other Grands Prix yet to come in 2017, including Britain, Belgium, Malaysia and Japan.
The Hard tire is not set to be used again this year following complaints from drivers when it was selected for the Spanish Grand Prix.
