Champ Car’s oval days numbered

Kevin Kalkhoven was asked if he sees oval tracks continuing to be a part of the Champ Car World Series.

"Ovals are part of the heritage of the series and I would personally hate to see them disappear," he observed. "What is clear at the moment, however, is that oval racing fans want to watch NASCAR. You can see that from the other series that go oval racing, that there's not a lot of interest in it. I don't know what the end result will be although we will certainly have ovals in '06. Beyond that, I don't know. Oval fans like NASCAR; Road racing has a different set of fans." ChampCar.ws
