JB told to honor contract
The 34-year-old Scot suggested that his fellow Brit is doing the wrong thing in trying to squeeze out of his commitment, and stay at BAR.
DC said it is the first time he has ever offered Button advice about his grand prix career.
''(And) I've talked over all kinds of things with (him),'' including personal relationships,'' Coulthard said in his Daily Record column.
''He has to face his responsibilities, do the job he has signed to do, and next time the merry-go-round stops, make sure he gets the right seat.
''No one, not even Schumi, has the best seat year-in, year-out.''
Coulthard apparently fears that the continuing tussle over the 25-year-old Englishman could result in Button having to sit out next year. ''That would be a very damaging thing for British motorsport,'' the Red Bull driver warned.
DC also said Red Bull's buyout of Minardi is 'fine by me', so long as it 'doesn't change how the main team race.'
