Uruguay replaces Brazil on 2017/18 Formula E calendar
The FIA's World Motor Sport Council has confirmed that Formula E will return to Punta del Este, Uruguay, this season, with the event replacing Sao Paulo, Brazil.
With the local Sao Paulo authority in the process of selling the Anhembi Park venue – where the inaugural Brazilian Formula E race was set to take place in March next year – a request to delay its debut until season five (2018/19) was granted.
With Formula E keen to avoid losing a race from its calendar and creating a six-week gap, the search for a replacement venue began.
The WMSC confirmed on Wednesday that a return to Punta del Este, which hosted races in season one and two, will go ahead in March on the same date as the postponed Sao Paulo race.
The calendar features 14 races across 11 countries, with Hong Kong, New York and Canada hosting double headers on the same weekend.
