Williams may not sign second tester
(GMM) A spokesman for Williams says the Grove based team will decide within six weeks whether or not a second test driver will be appointed for the 2007 season.
It was reported on Wednesday that Timo Glock was already out of running for the ride, sparking speculation that Toyota-powered Williams will not in fact nominate a bespoke 'reserve' pilot to run alongside secondary tester Narain Karthikeyan.
The spokesman said Williams was 'assessing' the situation following the recent agreement limiting testing for next year.
"I think we'll probably reach a conclusion in the next month, six weeks as to whether we have a second test driver," he added.
The spokesman admitted that Karthikeyan's contract does not make him 'the de facto reserve driver'.
He explained: "If a race driver was unfit, yes we could use Narain, equally we have the capacity to use anyone else."
