NASCAR To Allow Teams To Obtain Data On Competitors
Kyle Busch |
NASCAR has confirmed that it will allow teams to share and obtain data from other racing organizations this season, including telemetry data such as braking, throttle and RPM data, but they stress it’s no different from what teams can already acquire on their own from fans and viewers at home can get from products such as "RaceView" and "FanView".
Several drivers who were interviewed during this weekend’s NASCAR Media Tour were unaware of new policy, since NASCAR has yet to make an official announcement.
At least one driver, Kyle Busch, was vehemently opposed to the idea.
"That's news to me," said Busch. "That's entirely not fair. I'd rather just disconnect all my stuff to begin with so nobody gets to see it.
"I'd much rather just not have anybody be able to see anything. Even if I'm behind, I feel like I'm better at being able to catch up than just being able to hand my data to somebody else and say, here, here it is, this is how you do it. That's not good. That's the first I've heard of that."
