NASCAR will no longer use the term “encumbered”

NASCAR will no longer use the term "encumbered" to describe a win that, because of a rules infraction, does not count toward qualifying for the playoffs or advancing in the playoffs. NASCAR will still issue that penalty but will no longer use the word that has led to much confusion — not to mention some ridicule — with its use according to Bob Pockrass of ESPN.
