Former race driver Doornbos has to pay back 10 million Euro to sponsor.

Former race car driver Robert Doornbos has to repay more than 10.6 million euros in sponsor money to the Limburg entrepreneur Harry Muermans.

The court in Den Bosch determined this on Tuesday in a trailing procedure between Doornbos and his former sponsor. Muermans financed the racing career of Doornbos, who in 2005 and 2006 drove for Minardi and Red Bull in Formula 1.

The entrepreneur claimed the money back because it would have been a loan. The court in Roermond rejected the sponsor earlier, but on appeal the court found that it was indeed sums lent to Doornbos.
