Rahal Letterman Racing layoffs?

UPDATE #3 Patron has a contract with Rahal Letterman Racing for 2008 and has every intention of being with the team in 2008 with Scott Sharp. The question is whether it will be in the IRL or ALMS.

09/24/07 Official statement from the team confirming the layoffs: Officially, we are making changes to streamline our organization and to make it more efficient. This is something that we do at the end of every season, as a way of evaluating our personnel and our business to see how we can make improvements for the future. We will carry on with our IndyCar and sportscar programs in 2008 and beyond, and expect to continue building toward a bright future.

09/23/07 We are getting further reports that there were layoffs at Rahal Letterman Racing and that indeed the Patron sponsorship may be going elsewhere with Scott Sharp. The rumor is that a total of 12 people were let go.

09/21/07 Unconfirmed reports have the Rahal Letterman Racing Indy Car team laying off personnel for the off-season. With the IRL's long off-season it's hard for teams to justify keeping a full staff on board. Sponsor Patron was rumored to be departing along with Scott Sharp but we don't know if that is true. Attempts to contact the team have so far gone unanswered.
