Final Weekend USA TV Ratings (Update)
NASCAR and IndyCar TV Ratings |
UPDATE
There was a mistake in the % drop in rating for the NASCAR Cup race from Texas. It has been corrected. Do realize the race was on FOX last year and was moved to cable this year.04/10/18 All final ratings were down from 2017 except F1 on ESPN2, which saw a 76% increase. As predicted IndyCar would become increasingly invisible on NBCSN and they signed a 3-year extension, which means sponsors will get very little value since hardly anyone watches. At least the IndyCar season opener on ABC had over 1.1 million viewers. In contract negotiations ESPN offered 10 races (59%) on ABC and IndyCar turned them down. Plus of course ESPN broadcast distribution to 140 countries – all gone as ESPN walks. Apparently IndyCar must have a secret death wish. Nothing else can explain the decision.
