Overheard in Mexico City

From the Champ Car teams we have talked to here in Mexico City they all appear very positive for 2008. Not all deals are signed yet, but some are even talking about

CDW is rumored to be going to NHLR with Justin Wilson in 2008

expansion…….Justin Wilson and CDW are still being talked about for the Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing team next year with the McDonald's sponsorship going with Graham Rahal. The NHLR team will once again be the team to beat……..We are still hearing that the red Bridgestone tires will be even softer next year to provide a greater differential in performance over the standard black tires. However, they will wear out faster and drivers are either going to have to take care of them or use them on short stints only. It will bring a different strategy into the mix for 2008…… We are hearing that Giacomo Ricci has a fair amount of sponsorship money for next year and is shopping it to various Champ Car teams…….We are hearing that Bruno Junqueira hopes to have his '08 deal with Dale Coyne Racing wrapped up by the end of the month…….Tecate is plastered all over the track here this weekend in a big way so it may indicate their renewed involvement for 2008, or so we hear………More later……
