Troubles for F1 in Brazil

The Formula One season comes to a conclusion at Interlagos in just over two weeks time, but at the moment the city of Sao Paulo has its own issues with the police clashing with police.

Riot police were in action Thursday with tear gas and rubber bullets in use as striking police officers attempted to force their way into state Governor Jose Serra’s Bandeirantes Palace the BBC reports.

23 people were injured in the clash according to Xinhua, as the civil police seek to negotiate a 15 percent pay rise. The injured were treated at the nearby The Albert Einstein Hospital.

Speaking ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix weekend, Felipe Massa admitted that things were a little fraught in his home town.

The strike is now a month old and with the Formula One circus due in town in less than two weeks for the title decider between Massa and Lewis Hamilton, this could be another headache for Bernie Ecclestone and Formula One Management who are probably concerned that Hamilton's safety could be at stake.
