Sato to buy test driver role at Red Bull
According to reports in Autosport, Takuma Sato has definitely not given up on his desire to remain in the Formula One championship after being passed over by Toro Rosso for the sole remaining full time drive, instead he is currently in negotiations with Red Bull Racing for a reserve driver role.
Even thought there will be no official in season testing, teams still need a reserve driver in case one of their regular pilots is unable to race due to illness or injury. The role Sato is said to be interested in would cover both of Red Bull’s teams, Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso.
"He has a good reputation in Japan," Red Bull boss Dieter Mateschitz told Autosport. "He could work with us very well." We here at AR1.com suspect that if he brings some money to the two Red Bull teams he can buy the reserve driver role. Other than that, good drivers are a dime a dozen and there are many that would do it for free.
