Renault scraps KERS until September?

Renault to ditch KERS for now

(GMM) Renault has abandoned KERS at least for the next seven races, the Spanish sports newspaper Diario AS claims.

It was already known that the French squad will not be fitting the controversial energy re-use technology to its R29 car at the forthcoming Spanish and Monaco grands prix.

But AS claims that, after investigations about the effect on performance of the increase in centre of gravity by 4 centimeters, Renault has for now put its KERS units aside.

The newspaper said Spaniard Fernando Alonso wants to reconsider KERS only for the high speed circuits at Spa and Monza, to take place consecutively in late August and early September.
