Schu to return?

Michael Schumacher

(GMM) Michael Schumacher has indicated his neck injuries are healing well and refuses to rule out a return to racing.

The retired seven time world champion wanted to return this year to replace the injured Felipe Massa, but had to call it off due to the lingering effects of a motorcycle testing fall.

"From now to the end of the year, my neck injury will be healed to the point where I could drive again," the 40-year-old said in an interview to be published on Monday by Der Spiegel magazine.

Schumacher ended his F1 racing career at the end of 2006 but remained an advisor and occasional test driver at Ferrari.

"I still slightly regret having retired three years ago but there's no reason whatsoever for me to definitively announce that I will not come back," he added.

"The life I lead makes me happy but who knows that will happen a few months or a year down the line?"

Bild newspaper quoted his manager Willi Weber as admitting it is "possible" Schumacher will soon return to racing motorcycles.
