Piquet Jr. calls Massa an amateur
Felipe Massa |
"I don't care for what he is saying, to be honest," said Venturi Formula E's Felipe Massa following the Marrakesh E-Prix in which he was labeled an "amateur" by Panasonic Jaguar Racing's Nelson Piquet Jr.
"I think it's very sad because I had a problem with the car. I lost drive in the car, so that's why I was stopping," he explained after the race.
The incident between the two drivers follows the reigniting of one of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship's oldest rivalries between Brazilians – Nelson Piquet Jr. and Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler's Lucas di Grassi during the season opener in Saudi Arabia.
But Piquet Jr's still on the rampage, pulling the only other Brazilian driver into the mix after labeling him an "amateur," following a slightly suspect move from the former Formula One ace during Practice 2 in Marrakesh.
"I don't understand why…well! He's not a great example to be honest. Things that he's doing, things what he's saying.
"So, I don't care for what he is saying to be honest.
"The only thing I can say is that I didn't do anything wrong – I just had a technical problem."
With one point to his name, Nelson Piquet Jr sits 13th in the Championship after the Marrakesh race. Massa, just two races into his Formula E career sits 20th – just two places from the bottom with no points to his name. In under two weeks, the battle moves on to South America for the 2019 Antofagasta Minerals Santiago E-Prix.
