Rick Kelly will continue to race in Castrol colors in 2019 after the oil brand reaffirmed its commitment to team Kelly Racing with a new multi-year partnership.
After a successful first season as the title sponsor of Kelly’s Nissan Supercar, which included a race victory at Winton Raceway and multiple podium finishes, Castrol colors will be proudly displayed on Kelly’s Altima for 2019 and beyond.
The new deal will also see an increased involvement from Castrol’s parent company BP, which will feature prominent BP Ultimate branding on the Castrol Racing Altima.
“Castrol is one of the world’s most recognized brands in motoring, so to have their support over a multi-year deal is very exciting for us," said Rick Kelly.
“Last year, we really enjoyed working with them, and it was very rewarding to give them a race win and a number of podiums over the season."
“We love the look of the #15 car for this year. The livery on last year’s car was very popular amongst all fans, and we feel that everyone will be impressed with the look of our car."
“It’s also great to have the support of BP Ultimate. Both Castrol and BP are two iconic brands, and we are excited to represent them on and off the track."
This year will also be Castrol’s 100th birthday, having been originally founded as the Wakefield Oil Company by Charles Wakefield in 1919. The ‘Castrol’ brand originated after researchers added castor oil to their famous lubricant formula.
From the very beginning Castrol has been engaged with the motorsport landscape in Australia. Over the last 100 years Castrol has supported a varied array of motorsport activities including circuit racing, rallying, motorbike racing, speedway, drag racing and boat racing. It has always been a two-way street between motorsport and product development for Castrol.
For 100 years products have been tested under the Australian extremes by Castrol supported motorsport teams and drivers. This century long research and development has uniquely shaped a product that can stand up to the intense pressures of the Australian environment.
Today, Castrol still has a presence across nearly all motorsport disciplines in Australia from grassroots weekend racers to professional motorsport.
“Castrol has been involved with and a proud supporter of Supercars racing since the start and we’re happy to keep tradition alive with Kelly Racing in 2019," said Ben Rose, Castrol Marketing Director.
“Castrol are proud supporters of all forms of motorsports, from grassroots Karting, Formula 4, Supercars to Formula One,"
“It’s a great fit for Castrol as innovators in our industry and the Kelly Racing teams developmental spirit. What they’ve been able to achieve with the Altima in the last 12 months alone, they’ve come into their own last year and it was great to be part of that journey."
“We’ve been a part of their whole journey, from working closely with their engineers for new product technology to having fun come race day with car liveries. We could not be more excited for what the future holds with the Castrol and Kelly Racing partnership."
“2019 will also see Castrol Australia reach a milestone in history, celebrating 100 years. So as we embark in our next chapter we do so alongside Kelly Racing who this year will also be marking their moment in history under their new banner."
