Scott Speed likely a $5 million contestant
Scott Speed is targeted as the first of the Izod IndyCar Series’ $5 million men, making him eligible to go for the big financial prize at the season-ending race Oct. 16 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Speed, who is entered in this month’s Indianapolis 500 in a car owned by Dragon Racing, said he has been assured that he will be one of the five drivers selected later this summer. If one of those drivers wins the Las Vegas race, he’ll collect $5 million, although IndyCar officials haven’t decided how that will be paid.
