Belgian Motorsports Collapsed?
It appears that national motorsports has collapsed in Belgium. The Promoter of the Belcar Endurance Series and Belgian Touring Car Series has enormous debts and the RACB Federation refused to announce plans for the forthcoming season.
Two parties, BRI and Kronos (Peugeot Rallye and LMS Aston Martin LMP in the past) are interested in taking over, but they do not want to take over the debts of Promoter Speedworld. It is a delicate and complicated matter. But if no decision has been taken before this forthcoming Wednesday, circuit racing at high national standards in Belgium are over.
Another complicated matter is the VW Funcup. This has also been organized by Speedworld in recent years. The Lemoine family possesses a lot of shares and is in a position to pay the debts, but if they do, they will be outlawed in organizing any other championship.
The Belgians probably must prepare for a season without national races!
