Stewart wins pole in Texas

Last week in Phoenix, Ryan Newman put Stewart-Haas Racing in the spotlight with his victory. On Friday in Texas, Tony Stewart kept his company atop the Cup leaderboard by winning the pole for Sunday's race — his first Cup pole since 2005.
“I am real happy with our lap," said Stewart. "I’m not normally a very good qualifying so that is a great great run for our Office Depot/Old Spice Chevy. I want to thank Hendrick chassis and engines. This one is for everybody at Stewart-Haas Racing. They have really been working hard."
Sam Hornish Jr. posted the 2nd fastest time followed by Greg Biffle, Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne.
"We’re real close now to where we were at in Atlanta even though we have the spoiler now," said Hornish. "I was real happy with our car at Atlanta. If we have a car here that runs anything like what we did at Atlanta and starting where we are this weekend, we’re going to lead some laps. So, I’m looking forward to Sunday for sure."
Stewart will start from the front in his 400th career race in NASCAR's top series after turning in a qualifying lap of 191.327 mph on Friday.
It's been 155 races since Stewart last started on the pole, at Martinsville in October 2005.
