Simona de Silvestro eyes IndyCar return

Simona de Silvestro – the F1 experiment is over

Simona De Silvestro is interested in returning to the Verizon IndyCar Series after she learned that her checkbook was not large enough to buy a race seat in F1.

De Silvestro, who raced in the series from 2010-13, saw her Formula One pursuit with Sauber suspended last month after her money ran out, and the 26-year-old Swiss driver told friends at last week's U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, that she made a mistake in leaving.

"She's keen to return," IndyCar president Derrick Walker said. "I'm trying to help her spread the word."

Walker said De Silvestro is "the most talented female driver in open-wheel racing, period." In part from IndyStar.com
