Added photo to right of Bernie Ecclestone talking and a happy Sebastien Vettel listening intently. What were they talking about? We surmise in the photo caption.
11/24/14 No one knows better than Bernie Ecclestone how important Ferrari is to F1. He has given them the best financial deal for years because he knows they have the largest fan base and most history in the sport.
Ecclestone knows that when Ferrari cars win races TV ratings and attendance increases. So it has pained him to watch Ferrari languish for years.
Who would have thought Vettel would be leaving Red Bull in May 2013 when AR1 first rumored it. The team was having so much success no one thought it possible |
With four straight titles and being groomed by Red Bull since he was a kid, no one expected Sebastian Vettel to leave Red Bull and master designer Adrian Newey when we rumored it 18 months ago and he was at the top of the world – headed to his 4th straight world title. Readers called us nuts.
Well rumor has it that it is Ecclestone who orchestrated the change that will see the duo of designer Aldo Costa and designer/technical director Ross Brawn, who brought so much success to Ferrari in the Schumacher years, who brought Mercedes to where they are this year – dominant in every aspect, combined with Sebastian Vettel in the hope to bring Ferrari back to dominance.
Arrivabene (L) talking to Ecclestone. Is the topic Ferrari? |
Ecclestone also thinks highly of former Marlboro brand boss Maurizio Arrivabene who is rumored to come in and oversee the Ferrari team, replacing temporary boss Mattiacci. It was Arrivabene who oversaw the Marlboro sponsorship of McLaren and then Ferrari, and has been in the sport for many years.
No one knows how to orchestrate deals like Ecclestone, and the teaming of Vettel, Brawn, Costa and Arrivabene at Ferrari has his fingerprints all over it. Let's see if it all comes true. Mark C. reporting for AR1.com
