BHA to add 2nd car?

Might Bryan Herta's IndyCar team be expanding?

AutoRacing1 hears there is a possibility Bryan Herta Autosport may field a second car at this year's GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma – the the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series finale. While there have been additional entries rumored previously for the team, BHA has been a single-car operation since entering IndyCar full-time in 2012. This year rookie Gabby Chaves, the 2014 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires is piloting the #98 BHA with Curb-Agajanian Honda. The 21-year-old Colombian-American currently sits atop the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings.

As for who might be driving the potential second BHA entry at Sonoma Raceway?

Well, we know BHA plans to meet with the management team of a promising 20-something American driver in the coming week. We also know that said driver has some backing from Northern California based companies (hence the Sonoma tie-in) and has spoken to at least one other Honda team about running Sonoma and/or a full-season deal for 2016.

Could the Sonoma round be the beginning of BHA expanding to a two-car team with an intriguing young American driver?

Too early to say, as these deals are usually quite complex. However, we can confirm discussions have taken place between the parties with further discussions planned. Stay tuned to AutoRacing1 for updates.
