Kevin Magnussen – calls rumors of him eyeing IndyCar completely false

This rumor is downgraded to 'false' today. Kevin Magnussen has reiterated his desire to stay in Formula 1 with Renault for the long-term, following the manufacturer's decision to sign Nico Hulkenberg on a multi-year deal.

Magnussen joined Renault at the start of the year when Pastor Maldonado encountered funding problems, but the Dane's future at the team remains unclear, amid its acquisition of Hulkenberg.

Reports in the US press on Monday evening suggested Magnussen was in contention once more for an IndyCar seat, having come close to racing in the category in 2015.

However, Magnussen has rejected such rumors and has insisted that he wants to remain with Renault in Formula 1, though admits being "impatient" over the wait.

"Seeing rumors around about me in IndyCar," Magnussen posted on social media.

"I'm a big fan of IndyCar but those are really just rumors. [There's] nothing to it.

"I feel confident my future is in Formula 1 and there should be no doubt I intent to stay with Renault Sport for many years if I can.

"Unfortunately there is nothing yet to announce regarding my future, but hopefully there will be soon. I too am getting impatient!"

Kevin Magnussen could have an opportunity in the Verizon IndyCar Series if he isn't retained by the Renault Sport Formula 1 program rumors racer.com.

The former McLaren-Honda F1 pilot was first mentioned as an option for the Honda-powered Andretti Autosport during the 2015 off-season, and with his F1 future in question once again, it's believed the 24-year-old is a top candidate to complete Andretti's four-car roster if he parts ways with Renault. Rumors of a solid financial incentive being offered to run Magnussen in IndyCar have also made the rounds.

A team spokesperson declined to comment when asked by RACER whether the Dane is in line for a drive with Andretti.
